To ensure that the calculation of working days works reliably, it was important to take public holidays and weekends into account. It is important to note that public holidays vary depending on the country or region. If you need a good calculator, this function must be reliably taken into account in the calculation. This results in a different net or gross working time depending on the input.

How many days are working days?

The number of working days per year varies greatly depending on the country and the working time laws that apply there. In addition, different public holidays and rest days in different regions can influence the number of working days. However, you can calculate this quickly and easily with our working days calculator.

Normally, a classic working week consists of five working days. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. However, this can vary depending on the industry.

Assuming a 5-day week, there is an average of 230 working days per year. With a 6-day week, the average is 280 working days.

What is meant by working days?

Working days are the days on which regular work is performed. However, this depends on the working time agreements in the employment contract and various legal requirements. In Germany, working days are generally defined as Monday to Friday.

However, regional vacations, vacation and illness are not normally counted as working days.

What does 5 working days mean?

The term “5 working days” means that five days are worked in a week. Typically, this refers to work between Monday and Friday. These are the regular working days in Germany. However, as in our working days calculator, there can also be a 6-day working week.

How many working days does each month have?

The number of working days in a month varies depending on the month. Factors can include the number of days in the month, weekends and public holidays. In principle, a month has 30 or 31 days, except in February, which has either 28 or 29 days. If we assume a 5-day week, we arrive at the following number of working days.

February: approx. 20 working days (normal year with 28 days) or approx. 21 working days (leap year with 29 days)

How many working days does a year have with 30 days of vacation?

To calculate the number of working days in a year, you need to calculate various factors. Public holidays are different in every year. In addition, there are leap years that influence the result.

However, if you assume an average of 21.5 working days per month, you end up with 258 working days per year over 12 months. If you deduct the 30 vacation days, this leaves 228 working days per year.

How many working days in a 40-hour week?

In principle, the working days have nothing to do with the number of hours. However, if you assume a “classic” 8-hour day, you end up with a week of 5 working days. However, as it is sometimes permitted to work 10 hours a day, the working week can end after just 4 days.
